Station Bell
This bell is a station bell. Yasusada Matsudaira who was the feudal lord of the domain of Iwami-Hamada (present-day Shimane Prefecture) gifted this bell to Norinaga knowing of his love for bells and classic literature.
The station bell was used as personal identification for public servants dispatched to local areas in ancient Japan.
